2010 VKMLA Box Lacrosse Assessment/Practice Schedule
The 2010 box lacrosse initial team practices will be held at Memorial South Lacrosse Box (3 blks east of
East 41st Ave and Fraser Street) in March. The dates and times for each age group are:
Saturday AND Sunday, March 20 & 21, 2010 *and* Saturday AND Sunday, March 27 & 28, 2010
Times:
Midget 10:00 - 11:30 am
Bantam 12:00 - 1:30 pm
PeeWee 1:30 - 3:00 pm
Novice 3:00 - 4:30 pm
Tyke & Mini-Tyke No Assessments; Practice starts Mar. 20/21 & 27/28 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. @ South Memorial Box

Sports Nutrition Seminars
Proper nutrition is a key element of success in sports. VKMLA is partnering with Kinesiologists.ca to provide information
on sports nutrition and to provide "dryland" training opportunities for our lacrosse players and teams. Dryland information will be provided to coaches.
VKMLA Players Drafted by BCJALL
Five former VKMLA players were selected in the BC Junior A Lacrosse League's Midget draft help in early February. David McSkimming (Port Coquitlam),
Xander McDonald (Burnaby), Justin Rai (New Westminster), Jacob Axelson and Nathan Ma (Coquitlam)
were drafted by Junior teams. All played for the VKMLA Midget A1 team in 2009. Their success reflects the hard work and dedication of each player and the coaches that helped them along the way. Congratulations and good luck!

Tavares Credits Lacrosse for Hockey Success
John Tavares, who helped Canada win Gold at the 2008 World Junior Hockey Championships in Ottawa credits his lacrosse playing days with helping him develop "scorer's hands" around the hockey net. The full article can be read HERE.
2010 Coaches' Clinics
All VKMLA coaches must attend a BCLA-sanctioned coach clinic by May 15th of the current coaching season. These clinics are paid for by the Association. The schedule of clinics is HERE. Please contact Wayne McDonald or Carlo Nichini to register and/or for more information.
2010 Referee Clinics
Referees are essential to the VKMLA and are paid for their work. All referees must attend a BCLA-sanctioned referee clinic each year. Information of referee levels, fees (refunded by VKMLA if referees officiate at least three games) and the schedule can be found HERE.
