NEWS FLASHES:June 24, 2009!

Provincial Championship Declarations: VKMLA's Midget A1, Midget C, Bantam A2, and Bantam B teams have all declared for the playdowns to determine Lower Mainland representatives for the Provincial Box Lacrosse Championships. Check-out "Games this Week" and come out and support these teams beginning June 29th-July 5th!

VKMLA Midget C Food Bank Drive: Team inspires effort that raises more than $44,000 and 1000 lbs of food! See Noticeboard for details.

Vancouver PeeWee teams double tournament winners.

VKMLA's PeeWee A2 team bested teams from the lower mainland and the Okanagan to win Gold at the Port Moody tournament last weekend. The team went undefeated in the tournament which included a very exciting 5-4 overtime win against Port Coquitlam. Renton Swick (goalie) was the tournament MVP. Pics and more details are HERE.

The same weekend, VKMLA's PeeWee C team won the Merritt Minor Lacrosse Association's "Thunderball" tournament and was also undefeated. The PeeWee C Burrards defeated Coquitlam 13-5 in the final. At the same tournament, Carlos Isert won the timed shooting accuracy skills competition and Matt Hills-Miron was the winner (in sudden death) of the goalie skills competition. Congratulations to both teams!

The Vancouver-Killarney Minor Lacrosse Association (VKMLA) is the governing body responsible for administering Canada's National Summer Sport for youth aged five to sixteen throughout Vancouver. It is a small association with just over 200 players and in its commitment to enhance the growth and development of the sport of lacrosse, the Association provides guidance, direction, and stability to its members through strong, proactive, and ethical leadership. Our mission is to: (i) develop the game of lacrosse in Vancouver in a sustainable manner while preserving the heritage and integrity of the sport, and (ii) promote and practice the Fair Play Codes throughout the Association for players, coaches, referees, volunteers, and spectators. The VKMLA oversees youth box lacrosse (March - July), youth field lacrosse (August - March), and female-only box lacrosse.

Vancouver Senior Lacrosse (VSL) is the governing body responsible for administering lacrosse in the Intermediate (under 18), Junior (under 21), and Senior (no age limit) box lacrosse leagues. VSL also oversees Men's Field Lacrosse and Women's Box Lacrosse in Vancouver. Please contact Shawn Joinson or Terry Kirstiuk for more information.
