News Flashes: August 19th, 2010
1.Field Lacrosse at VKMLA in 2010: VKMLA is trying to establish field lacrosse teams to play inthe Pacific Coast Field
Lacrosse League (Sept. to March) at the U10 and U12 ages. For all inquires regarding registration, please contact the VKMLA registrar (registrar@vancouverlacrosse.com).
If these teams are formed, then players in all ages groups for which there are no teams at VKMLA (e.g., U14 to U19) and who wish to play in another association will need to have a release form filled out. This form can be obtained from the VKMLA registrar.
2.Provincial Championship Update: PeeWee C wins provincial bronze! The PeeWee C team won the bronze medal at the provincial championships in Delta. The team woke up early Sunday morning to defeat Surrey, 9-8. Kudos also to coach Micheal O'Connor who was voted by his peers for a Fair Play award and to Alec Robinson who was selected for the all star team. Great work all!

5. Congratulations to VKMLA senior referee Vincent Burelle who has been selected to officiate
at the PeeWee, Bantam, AND Midget Provincial Championships. This is a real testament to Vincent's skill as a referee. Well done!

7. Pro Football VKMLA Fundraiser. In partnership with the Burnaby Senior B Burrards, VKMLA has undertaken a fundraising drive through a Pro Football 2010-2011 season raffle. The fundraising effort is to
help raise funds to offset the 50% reduction of our provincial gaming allotment. Replacing these funds is crucial to limit registration fee increases and to pay for dry floor time and new equipment purchases. To understand the rules and to check results of the pool on your tickets please click

VKMLA
The Vancouver-Killarney Minor Lacrosse Association (VKMLA) is the governing body responsible for administering Canada's National Summer Sport for youth aged five to sixteen throughout Vancouver. It is a small association with just over 200 players and in its commitment to enhance the growth and development of the sport of lacrosse,
the Association provides guidance, direction, and stability to its members through strong, proactive, and ethical leadership. Our mission is to: (i) develop the game of lacrosse in Vancouver in a sustainable manner while preserving the heritage and integrity of the sport, and (ii) promote and practice the Fair Play Codes throughout the Association for players, coaches, referees, volunteers, and spectators. The VKMLA oversees youth box lacrosse (March - July), youth field lacrosse (August - March), and female-only box lacrosse.
Vancouver Senior Lacrosse (VSL) is the governing body responsible for administering lacrosse in the Intermediate (under 18), Junior (under 21), and Senior (no age limit) box lacrosse leagues. VSL also oversees Men's Field Lacrosse and Women's Box Lacrosse in Vancouver. Please contact Shawn Joinson or Terry Kirstiuk for more information.
